Issue displaying CA content in an iFrame - Invalid Login Response

  • 1.  Issue displaying CA content in an iFrame - Invalid Login Response

    Posted Mon April 05, 2021 02:25 PM
I'm really hoping someone can help me with this. Our company wants to expose Cognos Analytics reports (on premise) within an iFrame in a web application not hosted on our servers. We are using SSL. When I test an iFrame with a link to Cognos, either just the home page or a specific report with no prompts, I get an error message on what looks like the login page that says "Invalid login response" and no option to enter credentials.

We have tried with and without SSL and with and without single sign-on.

    Can anyone help me?

    Hi Jonathan,

    1) Are you passing the credentials either as a part of the URL to the iframe or otherwise? If not, pls look at Cognos Mashup services.
    2) In case you are already passing the credentials and still seeing the 'unauthorized' error, then it must be due to Samesite cookie issue. Recent changes to browsers do not allow cross-domain cookies and since you are calling Cognos report hosted on-premise from an external site/URL the authentication cookies sent by Cognos gateway are not accepted by the browser. If that's the case, pls look at this link (https://www.petefreitag.com/item/850.cfm) and create the rewrite rule; this is for IIS web server. For steps 12 and 14, pls refer to the attachment as to what needs to be specified in the rewrite rule definition.

    Hope this helps.

We did finally get it working, but with some caveats.

    1. It works using Kerberos authentication, so it still has difficulty when a user wants to use a device not on our network.
    2. We spent a long time playing with https rewrite settings in IIS.
    3. Ultimately, what got us working was following the steps from Kiran above and then tweaking until we got it working.
