Filtering deletes some column data instead of entire rows

    Hi all,
I am trying to filter out all rows where a particular column has the value 'No'.  I select a cell with 'No' in the column, go up to "Filters", and select "Exclude No."  But instead of excluding/removing full rows, some subset of column data is blanked out.  This is for a client so I don't think I can share the screen grabs.

    Hi Jim.

It isn't clear what you are observing.  My surmise is that you are in report studio and you are filtering a measure value in a crosstab or filtering a measure value in a list report where there are more than one measure in the report.

In the picture below, you see a cross tab without any values excluded and another where I have excluded one value.

You will see that the cell with the excluded value has been moved and the value in the cell has been nulled out.

In the second picture, below it, there is the same cross tab where all values equal to or less than 199,214 have been excluded.

In the third picture,  there is the same cross tab where all values in a column have been excluded because the filter condition is true for all cells in the column.

A column or row will be filtered out of a crosstab only if all of the values in the column or row fall into the filter condition.

You will see similar results in a list report if there are multiple facts in the report.  This is illustrated in picture 5

When you perform the same action in a list report where there is only one fact then every row where the filter condition is true is excluded.  This is illustrated in picture 4.

Is this what you are observing?

If not, could you describe in a bit more detail what it is you are observing.

Cross tab where all values equal to or less than 199,214 have been excluded.
    Picture 3.
Cross tab with only values greater than 791,905.  Note the exclusion of Fax, Mail, and Special.  They have been excluded as all the values in the column are less than 791,905.
