  • 1.  Colour rendering across reports

I am trying to render products in the same colours across multiple reports (not dashboards).  For example, I always want Product A to be displayed in Blue, Product B in Red and Product C in Green.  If I am running a graph with Products A and B on it, I will see Blue and Red bars but if I run a report with Products A and C, I will see Blue and Green on the graph.  For an individual report, I can use render variables but I want to do this across several reports.  Custom palettes will not work either as they will pick up the number of items.  I have built dashboards and used filters to select different combinations of products and the colours seem to stay with the specific product but it seems to be different in reports.  Thoughts?

@MATTHEW ROBINSON This is currently not available. I would suggest logging a RFE (Request Functional Enhancement) so you can formally track this request. You can log a RFE here.

Denny,   I am sure this type of "colour control" functionality has been asked for many times.   Is there an RFE or voting capability?
Also...is there any work around or method to do it ????

Without this level of control Cognos is seriously losing advocates in the user community.    Functionality like this is literally "expected" by business analysts etc and because IBM Cognos seem to struggle to provide it (even years after being told) they have users who export the data and redo their reports in other products.   Cognos provides a GREAT platform and with lineage, security , flexibility it SHOULD be the user product of choice...    but non-intuitive report design and limited features make it hard to maintain the enthusiasm.

Please accept this note with the positive but frustrated tone.    UI productivity like this should be top of mind for product development/mgmt.   (eg they added "custom sort"; now they need to add "Assign colour"
