  • 1.  Does anyone use social media analytics tools with Cognos?

    Hi there,

    I'm a User Researcher for Cognos Analytics at IBM and I'm currently conducting a research project on how to best integrate social media analytics features into Cognos Analytics.
    So, my question to the group is, does anyone currently leverage social media data with other business data? Please post your answers on this thread.

    Well yes, I would like to be able to connect to my linkedin or perform market research on behalf of my customers. customers want to know how their new products or brands are being perceived in the World. I should be able to plugin to Facebook and select datasets based on demography, products, indiustry etc and pull the data I need for my own analytics. 

    Please just read the article below and maybe you can convince IBM to simply buy up one of these companies and integrate their tool  in to cognos. Some of these tools are brilliant. No need to re-invent the wheel.

    ​We had a similar request and we have used Power BI. This could be done in IBM Watson Analytics I guess but we have already had licence for Microsoft BI as we are using SSIS as ETL tool and Cognos Analytics as a BI Tool. That the reason we opted for Power BI.

    All the other major competitors implemented this functionality few years back and CA is still taking baby steps on this. I agree that CA is better in traditional pixel perfect reporting, data governance and security but it's lacking way behind in this area and need keep up with competitors before losing many prospective/existing clients.  

    Some of our Power Users already know functionalities offered by competitors and pass banter saying that "CA could be the next Nokia".
