CA 11.1.1 Assistant

We are testing CA 11.1.1 and when we try to use Assistant on packages that we created, we get a message that 'Crash' has not been analyzed.  We republished the package using framework manager 11.1.1 and we still get the message.  The package is a DQM package.

Anyone else run into this problem?  If so how did you solve it?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jo Marie
What is the underlying data source in your FM package ?... a cube ?...a relational database ?.
Some data sources do not support the assistant feature I believe at this time (especially if it is an OLAP cube).

It is a relational database that is based on a star schema.

    Hi Jo Marie,

Did you try enriching the package?  In the package context menu, there is an enrich option.  This runs some queries to collect metadata and statistics for the assistant.

Have you opened an APAR?  It sounds like there may be a problem that needs further investigation.

    Thanks,

    Rob

No, I haven't tried the enrich.   I will give that a try.

I did open ticket, but since I did the publish of the package they haven't gotten back to me.

The enrich fixed, the problem Assistant was returning about the package not being analyzed.

When I was reading the documentation for assistant and exploration, I don't remember anything about you needed to enrich the package.  I will have to check the package documentation to see if there is documentation in it about enrich and the purpose.

When I was looking around the new framework manager tool, I also don't remember anything about the enrich.  I would think you would want to be able to enrich the package right after publishing.

    Hi Jo Marie,
Regarding the topic of Enriching Packages, required for CA 11.1.1, please refer to the following Doc topic:

    "Data upgrade tasks required..."

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEP7J_11.1.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.inst_cr_winux.doc/c_ca_upgrade_data.html

The section on Enriching FM Packages is here:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEP7J_11.1.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ag_manage.doc/t_gtsd_enrich_packg.html

An important tip is visible right away, which is related to the above comment (OLAP sources have very limited support):
<<You can't enrich a package that includes dimensionally modeled (DMR) relational objects. >>

    Thanks,
    Valentin

@VALENTIN BALTEANU -   Does we need to apply any setting for Data module for "Assistant " feature . i see  for the package enrich package option  . but i dint see any option for data module .

getting error when i tried assistant for data module for package as well it's supporting small amount data (10000) and limited query subjects ?

    - Is it system is not smart enough to to enable this feature . look like we need some setting . please let me know doc relating to this .

    Hi Chandra,

For sources to be analyzed or enriched , that can happen in a couple ways 1) on Import (Uploaded files & DB)     2) FM Packages there is an Enrich option. Data Modules are created based on a source , if source is enriched then the Data Module is.

If  you try another question in the Assistant, for example  "load data" does it show other sources? and if you get other sources if you explore another data source does it show same error?

    Thanks

    Hi Chandra,

As per Rola's reply, when you are using data modules, they are automatically enriched, if the underlying data sources is enriched.
In your case, if the XLS file was imported therefore enriched, meaning the Data Module was automatically enriched, and will be enriched when you save modifications.
The replace/update import will trigger the required enrichment as well.

Can you try to explore the XLS file directly - using Create Exploration and do the same for the Data Module and let me know if you see the relationship graph?

    Thanks,
    Valentin
