    Hello Omar,
My client wants to join data from two different Framework Manager packages within one query in a report. Report Authoring in Cognos Analytics does not allow that. Data modules on the other hand can have multiple FM packages as a source. Can I integrate two FM packages in one data module, so when using this data module as a report source I will be able to build queries joining data from these two packages? If so, are the any known limitations to this approach?
    Kind regards,
    Mark

    Hi @Mark Nowack,

I was on vacation late last week so thanks for your patience for the reply!

When using FM packages as a source in the data module, you'll notice that we disabled a lot of the functionality. This is because we want to avoid the inelegant modeling structures that might be created if you model in FM, then further model it in data modules and then possibly in reporting. However, in data modules, there is some lightweight modeling that you can do when you create Views on the tables based on FM packages. You may be able to join two views and get the results you want in reporting but that may still not be optimal for performance. Our recommendation would be to create those joins in FM for the best performance.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Omar,
what does it mean exactly: "you'll notice that we disabled a lot of the functionality."? We are using version R11.1.3. It means that some features that work now will stop working once we upgrade our version?

    Thx
