The default audit level (minimal, I think) should capture this info afaik. If you want more comprehensive monitoring of failures in your environment, we have a product called
Thrive which will help with that.
Otherwise what you have above should work.

Hi Denny,
I know have access to the Audit Package. However, is there a certain 'level' of auditing that needs set to use this statement you provided:
[Target type] = 'DataSet BatchReportService' and [Status] = 'Failure' and cast([Time stamp],date) = current_date
Thank you!!!

@Jenifer Broughton The audit deployment, which contains the Audit Package and reports, will be located in <Your_Cognos_Install_Directory>\samples\Audit_samples
However, if you do not have an audit database configured in Cognos Configuration to capture audit information, this technique will not work until you setup the audit db.

So, if we have Cognos Analytics 11.0.1 we should have also included audit logs that feed an audit package. This is not an added cost?

@Jenifer Broughton - The Audit Package is provided by default with Cognos Analytics. No special permissions as it's just like any other Framework Manager Package.
If you're not able to locate the Audit Package, you may need to speak to your Administrator to have them import the Audit deployment, which contains the Audit package and a set of reports, into your environment.

Hi Denny,
Thanks for your insight on this. Do I have to have special permissions to access the Audit Package? I haven't worked with Auditing since version 7 and I think we had a 3rd party tool (genware maybe). My skills related to the Audit Tables are rusty.

@Jenifer Broughton Thanks for providing the details. To accomplish this, you would need to use Event Studio and the Cognos Audit Package . As the audit DB will capture failures related to data sets.
The event condition would look something like:
[Target type] = 'DataSet BatchReportService' and [Status] = 'Failure' and cast([Time stamp],date) = current_date
Also, attached a screenshot for reference.

Hi Denny.
Yes, I have approx. 15 datasets (more to come) and this morning they failed due to DB issues. Is there a way to run these via a job in event studio where, if they fail, an email will automatically send to people to set up to get?

@Jenifer Broughton Are you able to provide more details on why you want to schedule via Event Studio? Are you trying to refresh the data set after a DB load?

Hello,
I'm running Cognos 11.0.11 and I'm wondering if there is a way to have a scheduled even in Event Studio that runs Datasets? I'm not to familiar with Even Studio but didn't see anything.
Thanks-Jen
