We are embedding Cognos Analytics reports into a web UI with iframes at the web UI layer.  When a user comes in who does not have access to the Cognos analytics report they receive error message: RSV-CM-0005 Content Mgr did not return an object......we would like to replace this with a message stating they do not have access to this report and point them to the process to request access.  Just one example of trying to make error messages more friendly for end users.  Has anyone accomplished this?  If so can you share the steps you took?

    Thanks,Kay

    Hi Kay,

In the past (Cognos BI v10.2.2), we used to have access to User Interface and Error String Customization Toolkit (available with the IBM Cognos Software Development Kit). Taken from the documentation, this toolkit can be used to facilitate the customization of the messages and user interface text in certain Cognos products.

The documentation for this toolkit is still available: User Interface and Error String Customization Toolkit Installation and User Guide.

It might help you to achieve what you are looking for.

    Best regards,

Thanks for pointing us to this documentation.  We are on version v11.1.7 FP2 across all our environments so will need to see if it can still be used or if this has been deprecated with 10.2.2.

    Thanks again,
    Kay
