  • 1.  Unable to establish a metadata connection to data source

    Hi All,

    We have created a dashboard using Cognos 11.0.11 Analytics, sourcing from excel data(created data model). We have created dashboard with ten graphics and filters. 

    Observation1 : When we select/deselect any filters we are getting below errors
    Observation2 : When we click on any visual for interactivity the same errors occurring

    and this error occurring all over the dashboard (visual data, filter data).

    Tryouts1 : We try to create reports using same data source but did not get error message but report running fine. 
    Tryouts2 : We try to create dashboard without filters but still same errors appearing
    Tryouts3: We try to create dashboard without calculations but still same errors appearing

    Please advise if we are missing something here.

    Adding to this we try with different browsers and realize the errors are coming for different visuals, hoping there could be a configuration issue or browser issue. Even the errors are not consistent on one visual they are random with respect to browser and with respect to selections on the dashboard. Since we created data source using excel in Analytics interface we cannot publish it on DQM mode (we don't see those properties) and the control is very less in Cognos 11.0.11 Analytics :-(

    We continue to have the same issue with dashboards (same version).  I'm going to follow this question to see what suggestions are supplied.

    We had this issue after creating some in-depth dashboards. The fix for us was to increase the headers and URL length settings in IIS. I would be curious to see how others have resolved this issue.
