  • 1.  Cognos 11.1.7 UDA-SQL-0023 error connection to database has been terminated due to an unrecoverable

    Hello,

First time posting here. Recently we upgraded to cognos 11.1.7. Initially things seemed fine. But this week, we are seeing this error when running reports on and off. When we retry running, the reports run fine - some times have to try 2-3 times/wait a bit and try.

UDA-SQL-0023 The connection to the "(database name)" database has been terminated due to an unrecoverable error.ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE<br/>

I am not sure if this is upgrade related. Could some one please help out?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I don't use Oracle, so I can't be much help I'm afraid. A quick search on that error code yielded these, which might be helpful:

Thanks for the information. The issue in our case was with our oracle database and not cognos. I think some time out setting change fixed the issue (DBA handles that).

Usual things to eliminate would be:

    1. Did a SQL statement fail such that ORACLE also killed the session server side
    2. Is the database closing idle connections in a shorter time period than when CA would release an idle pooled connection.
    3. They you may drift into the topic of networking causing the sockets to be closed etc
