AI-driven exploration and analysis with Cognos Analytics
The exploration and analysis capabilities in Cognos Analytics aim to help every user gain instant insight into their data. Whether starting from an existing visualization or straight from the data. The system will help guide users through a discovery process by recommending alternative ways of visualizing data, surfacing trends and patterns, while returning results and insights in everyday business language. The exploration and analysis experiences continue to be enhanced to make it easier for business users and analysts to use AI-infused analytics and we'll take a look at new capabilities that are coming soon.

Hi Jason - I watched your session with great interest. There was mention of future integration with Watson Assistant. I would be interested to know how we might be able to consume the data & usage stats generated from watson assistant and dashboard them. Are there any plans to be able to consume the usage stats generated behind the scenes in WA and make available to dashboard ?. Cheers Nick

Hi Nick, the integration I alluded was to enable the CA Assistant to be configured with Watson Assistant so both are capable of responding to a user's question based on the context of what the user entered, e,g. questions about data can be answered by the Cognos Assistant and other questions by the Watson Assistant.

In addition to the above, we are looking to enable usage stats from Watson Assistant to be reported on and analyzed with Cognos.

    Great session.

I am wondering about it Microsoft Dynamics and Files stored in Sharepoint is on the roadmap to be available data sources.

    Hi Jo Marie,

In the longer term future we may add specific data connectors for Microsoft Dynamic and Sharepoint Lists, we know those are fairly popular sources of data, but there's nothing in the short term development plans right now.

What might provide some relief for at least Sharepoint Lists since they have APIs for accessing the data, is:  currently on track for delivery in CA 11.1.7 which is currently on track for release sometime this summer is a new web service (REST API) data connector. This will have some configuration options to accommodate different types of API responses, but it won't be able to handle any potential response well, therefore it may or may not work well enough with any particular API. This new data connector is powered by the following JDBC driver from Progress which is being embedded within Cognos Analytics at no additional charge to our customers so you can review its documentation now if you want to get a sense for types of API responses it supports (
