  • 1.  Connecting to on premises databases using Cognos Analytics on Cloud

    Hello all. I need to run a Cognos Analytics on Cloud (Cognos multi-tenant) dashboard over a single table located on an MS SQL Server on-premises database. As I'm having trouble finding specific documentation on CA on Cloud database connectivity, I hope this community can help me with a few questions. First of all, is it necessary to stablish a Secure Gateway connection? If so, is there a walkthrough I could follow to assemble it and reference it in the CA on Cloud interface? Secondly, is it possible to stablish a "real time" connection, so the dashboard always presents the actual contents of the table? If the data needs to be uploaded/replicated to the cloud environment (as with Watson Analytics SaaS, for example), is it possible to schedule a refresh event, let's say, having the data module in the CA on Cloud automatically updated once a day? I do hope someone can shed some light on these subjects. Thank you very much!

    The welcome letter you received during on boarding should have defined the process that includes establishing a VPN tunnel to connect to the database environment and that the appropriate JDBC driver need to be provided to the cloud support team to be installed.

    Thanks a lot for your prompt responses. As we are still in the process of obtaining a CA on Cloud license, would you mind sharing with us any documentation on the VPN tunnel and JDBC driver configuration process? We would like to anticipate any restriction (or additional effort) we may have in our on-premises environment. Thank you very much!
