  • 1.  Latest support date Cognos 11.1.x versions

    Does anybody knows what the latest support date of Cognos 11.1.x versions is?

    So for example: Cognos 11.1.2. is released in April 2019, installed in August 2019.

    I know that LTS versions have a 2 year support range. With the possibility to extend this another year.

    Hi Thomas,

    11.1.7 is the "long term support" LTS release for the 11.1.X build.  It came out last week so by upgrading to that version, you will have 2 years of standard support, plus the option for a year of "extended support".  So you are looking at July 2022 or 2023 if you choose to stick with this version.

    Hello Thomas,

    Todd is correct that the Cognos Analytics 11.1.7 is the long term support release for Cognos Analytics 11.1 however, I caution against using 2022 or 2023 as the end of support date.  The End of Service announcement should be out later this month and will provide details on when 11.1 will reach end of support.

    Cognos Analytics follows a continuous delivery lifecycle which provides for a minimum of two years of service from the time of initial release.  Further details on the lifecycle can be found here.

    We recommend that all clients on 11.1, upgrade to 11.1.7 at their earliest convenience.  This provides you with both new features as well as additional defect corrections.  Future defect corrections for 11.1 will be put into 11.1.7 fix packs.

    Hello Thomas,

    The end of service announcement for Cognos Analytics 11.1 should be available later this month.  Cognos Analytics 11.1 follows the continuous release lifecycle which provides for a minimum of two years of support from the first release of 11.1.  Further details on the Continuous Release lifecycle can be found here.   A couple of important points from the lifecycle:

    • Provide at least two years of product technical support, which starts at the availability date of the product version or release....
    • Provide an LTSR, as determined by IBM, for select products where frequent functional updates may not be practical.  LTSRs include defect and security updates and are supported for at least one year.
    • Note: An LTSR does not follow the 2-plus-1 policy; however, details of the LTSR, which include the minimum period of time for which support is provided, will be made available in advance of its release date. Clients should refer to the appropriate product page or contact their IBM representative to learn if an LTSR is available for their specific products.

    We encourage our clients to upgrade to 11.1.7 at their earliest convenience.  This release contains both new features as well as a number of defect corrections.  We will continue to make defect corrections available via Fix Packs for the 11.1.7 codestream until end of service.
