Use drag and drop to create a new dimension or hierarchy in Planning Analytics Workspace

By Brian Toohey posted Fri May 04, 2018 03:20 PM

You can drag and drop a file onto the dimension editor to create a new dimension or a new hierarchy of an existing dimension in Planning Analytics Workspace.

When you import a file in this manner, you can create parent/child relationships in a dimension or hierarchy, and even create or update attributes.  This simplifies dimension or hierarchy creation, but there are a few things you need to know before you start:

  • The file must be correctly formatted.
  • You must have modeler privileges.
  • Planning Analytics Administration must be configured and running.
  • Drag and drop is not currently available in IBM Planning Analytics Workspace Local.

To get started, open a new dimension or a new hierarchy of an existing dimension. In either case, the dimension editor must be empty; you can't use drag and drop if any members already exist in a dimension or a hierarchy.

Next, drag and drop your file onto the dimension editor.

Finally, identify the structure of your source file, then click Import to create your new dimension or hierarchy.

The animation below briefly illustrates how to use drag and drop to create a new dimension, but you can find complete details in Drag and drop files to add dimension members and attributes.

Also to note, maintain a near eye on capabilities/functionalities which aren't to be had withinside the modern-day launch so that, the commercial enterprise isn't always impacted as soon as upgraded to the new edition because it can't be reverted to the traditional model.  ucapan idul fitri
