What's New in IBM PowerSC 2.3.0.5: Compliance, Security, and Operational Enhancements

By Vivianne Felix posted 07/31/26 04:02 PM

Security and compliance requirements continue to evolve, creating a need for solutions that help organizations improve operational visibility, simplify security administration, and address evolving regulatory requirements across IBM Power environments.

Released on July 24, IBM PowerSC 2.3.0.5 introduces enhancements that expand compliance coverage, improve operational visibility, simplify policy management, and strengthen automation across AIX, IBM i, Linux, and VIOS environments. The release delivers updates across compliance management, ransomware alert visibility, malware monitoring, policy administration, and automation capabilities.

Broader Compliance Coverage

Compliance remains a foundational component of enterprise security programs. PowerSC 2.3.0.5 expands compliance capabilities with new profiles that support additional regulatory and security frameworks.

This release adds:

  • Center for Internet Security (CIS) Alibaba Cloud Foundation Benchmark support for Alibaba Cloud Linux 3.

  • Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) v4.0.1 compliance profiles for AIX and VIOS environments.

These additions help organizations align IBM Power environments with evolving industry and regulatory requirements while simplifying compliance assessment and reporting activities.

Enhanced IBM i Compliance Visibility

For IBM i administrators, understanding the impact of compliance changes before implementation can help reduce operational risk and improve change planning.

PowerSC 2.3.0.5 introduces the ability to preview how an IBM i compliance profile would affect system values before applying it. Administrators can evaluate potential configuration changes, assess their impact, and make informed decisions without modifying the environment during the review process.

Improved Visibility and Operational Control

A significant portion of the PowerSC 2.3.0.5 release focuses on helping security administrators gain deeper visibility into their environments while reducing day-to-day management effort. New reporting, policy management, malware monitoring, and certificate administration capabilities are now available through the PowerSC graphical interface.

New enhancements include:

  • Custom event creation directly from the Management tab.

  • A Scheduled Scans Calendar that provides visibility into configured scanning activities.

  • A Last Scan Detail report for malware, quantum-safe, blocklisting, and Trusted Signature Database (TSD) scans.

  • Certificate viewing and management capabilities.

  • The ability to selectively undo previously applied rules without rolling back an entire profile.

  • Ransomware alert reporting through integration with CSM.

  • Malware policy creation for automated deployment to newly added endpoints.

  • Integration between ClamAV and Trusted Execution, allowing files associated with Trusted Execution events to be checked against malware signature databases.

Together, these enhancements help simplify security administration while providing greater operational insight across managed environments.

Simplified Trusted Network Connect Policy Management

PowerSC's Trusted Network Connect (TNC) capabilities also receive several updates in this release.

Administrators can now manage reusable IP Groups that can be assigned across multiple TNC policies, helping streamline network policy administration. In addition, updates to fsPolicy configuration provide added flexibility by making APAR groups and iFix lists optional while incorporating build information into the policy framework.

These enhancements help reduce administrative overhead and improve consistency when managing security policies across multiple systems.

Accelerating Security Automation

Many organizations rely on automation to improve the efficiency and consistency of security operations. PowerSC 2.3.0.5 expands API capabilities that help automate reporting, certificate management, event workflows, and Trusted Network Connect administration.

New and enhanced API support includes:

  • Correlated event management

  • Report export to CSV and PDF formats

  • Certificate management

  • TNC policy administration, including policies, iFix lists, APAR groups, fileset policies, and IP groups

These additions provide administrators and automation teams with more opportunities to integrate PowerSC functions into existing operational workflows and security orchestration processes.

Additional Platform Updates

The release also includes updated ClamAV RPM packages for supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.

In addition, OpenSSL 1.1.x is no longer supported. Administrators should ensure that PowerSC uiServer and uiAgent systems use compatible OpenSSL levels to maintain certificate interoperability between PowerSC components.

The release also introduces updated guidance for HMC profile naming conventions to support future compatibility and profile management best practices.
