Turbo provides tangible business outcome!

Turbo provides tangible business outcome!

Others are tools and they provide product outcomes. And there is a vast difference between the two.

How many times have we done this in Service Delivery ! How much time the architects spent time in deciding what the thresholds are for various metrics: CPU Utilisation, Memory Utilisation, Filesystem capacity etc ! Once the system is established, setup and brought to production, how many times have we ever looked at the capacity management metrics to take corrective actions vis-a-vis the number of times we ignored the notifications as noise and complained that the noises are masking the actual problem hide. More than that, we even rewarded ourselves for reducing the number of incidents as defect prevention (by masking the alerts). And boast about the benefits of our toolkit. What’s the benefit for the business by and large?

How many times these toolkits made you over-provision the infrastructure ! Over-provisioning in storage without taking care of the filesystems in it, contributed to unbalanced, bloated filesystems, that are so difficult to backup or restore, in Business Continuity situations (often beating the “Recovery Objective”)

As @Oved oved.lourie@turbonomic.com says in the Turbonomic videos, those are just tools. And tools are of different kind: Those that provide metrics, Those that provide visibility to one area or the whole lot. Solving a problem or preventing a problem is completely different than dashboards. Isn't it?  Remember the big Operations consoles?

Turbonomic is not a tool. It’s a guarantee for Application performance. No tools can provide it. Stop comparing.

It’s as clear as Business Outcome vs Product Outcome. Nobody cares and should care what the product outcomes are, if it does not align to business outcomes.

So, why do i labour so much to write this :-) To say, it was a good learning to get the Turbonomic Sales Foundation badge.
