SSCH2G focuses on the practical implementation of IBM Storage Defender Data Protect. Students work through real-world deployment scenarios while learning how the platform delivers scalable, resilient, and secure data protection for enterprise workloads.
- Plan an IBM Storage Defender Data Protect deployment using pre-deployment checklists
- Create a multi-node Data Protect cluster and configure networking, DNS, and NTP
- Understand cluster architecture, resilience, replication, and failure tolerance
- Configure storage domains, views, deduplication, compression, and encryption
- Add additional nodes to an existing cluster and monitor rebalance activity
- Perform a basic non-disruptive cluster upgrade
Hands-On Lab Experience
A key part of this course is the guided lab environment. Students work with a dedicated set of Linux-based virtual machines to build and manage an IBM Storage Defender Data Protect cluster from initial creation through expansion and upgrade.
- Deploy a three-node Data Protect cluster using the web-based setup workflow
- Add a fourth node and observe cluster rebalancing and activation
- Create storage domains and views using NFS and SMB access
- Explore file immutability (DataLock/WORM) concepts and configuration within Data Protect views
- Run cluster software pre-checks and initiate a cluster upgrade
