The Planning Analytics product team is excited to announce the release of the Planning Analytics 3.1 on-premises technical preview.  This technical preview is available to all Planning Analytics on-premises customers with active entitlement. Here are a few important details:

• The technical preview includes Planning Analytics Workspace, Planning Analytics TM1 12, and Planning Analytics for Excel. 

• TM1 12 is provided as a stand-alone, non-containerized, deployment for Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.  The high-availability and zero downtime upgrades features from Planning Analytics as a Service and Planning Analytics Advanced Certified Containers products are enabled with containerization.  These capabilities are not possible with the non-containerized release of TM1 12

• The included release of Planning Analytics Workspace is configured to only work with the stand-alone release of TM1 12.  Planning Analytics Workspace 2.0.x and 2.1.x releases cannot be configured to work with TM1 12.

• The initial release Planning Analytics version of the technical preview is 3.1.4.  This is aligned with the currently available release of Planning Analytics Workspace and Planning Analytics for Excel in Planning Analytics as a Service and Certified Containers

• Monthly updates of the Planning Analytics components and TM12 will be provided on Fix Central.  The current plan is to run the technical preview for about 6 months.

• Documentation is available here: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/planning-analytics/3.1.0?topic=offerings-planning-analytics-local-technical-preview.  The documentation for the tech preview is still a work in progress and the product team will update the documentation based on feedback.

• Only OIDC authentication is supported (there is no TM1 or CAM authentication in Planning Analytics 3.1 releases). The Planning Analytics Workspace deployment guide has been updated to include details of the OIDC configuration.  No OIDC configuration is required for TM1 12.

• There is no TM1Web user interface in Planning Analytics 3.1 releases.  The Planning Analytics Spreadsheet Services have been integrated into Planning Analytics Workspace and Websheets can still be used in Workspace books.  There are some signifigant improvements planned for Websheets in Workspace books on the 2026 roadmap.  There arel no spreadsheet service configuration files.  Instead, the spreadsheet services can be configured in the administration area in Workspace.  

The product team wants to provide a friendly reminder that the technical preview is unsupported and must not be used in production environments.  IBM Support will not accept support tickets for the issues or questions about the technical preview.  Feedback and technical issues should be reported in the Planning Analytics group on the TechXchange forum, or directly to the product team at pa_product_managers@wwpdl.vnet.ibm.com.
