IBM Planning Analytics Agent just got easier to connect to - Introducing the Universal MCP Endpoint for PA Agent MCP Tools!

With the latest release of IBM Planning Analytics Workspace, we’ve introduced a universal endpoint for MCP server access to simplify how customers connect agents and tools into Planning Analytics-powered workflows. This change is designed to reduce setup complexity while expanding the value of agentic use cases that rely on trusted Planning Analytics capabilities.

The new universal MCP endpoint is:

https://<PAW_HOST>/api/<PAW_TENANT_ID>/v0/agentic-ai/ibm-pa-tools/mcp

For customers running Planning Analytics Workspace versions 3.1.9 and 2.1.22 and up, and who have the Planning Analytics Agent add-on, this is the endpoint to use going forward.

  • Lower integration complexity for developers and platform teams

If you’re on PAW 3.1.9 or 2.1.22 with the Planning Analytics Agent add-on, now is the time to update your MCP server configuration to the new universal endpoint.

So will this universal endpoint be useable in an on-premise air-gapped deployment that does not permit connections to the internet. e.g. for deployment with in house air-gapped watson orchestrate or any other air gapped in house LLM capability? We have previously connected to the MCP without the requirement to be separately licenced.
