SAP on Power

IBM Power servers are purpose built for data-intensive applications such as SAP HANA and S/4HANA that require large amounts of in-memory computing but still let you maintain the high availability and flexibility required for your hybrid cloud.

IBM Power11 processor-based servers are now validated for SAP HANA®

By Robin Rehrmann posted Wed February 18, 2026 08:45 AM

We are proud to announce that we validated SAP HANA® on all IBM® Power11 processor–based servers.

Customers using SAP HANA onPremise solutions on IBM® Power® now have the flexibility to either use the 16-socket IBM® Power® E1180, the 4-socket IBM® Power® E1150, or the 2-socket IBM® Power® S1122/L1122, or IBM® Power® S1124/L1124 respectively.

The E1150 is validated for ScaleUp (all workloads). The 2-socket machines are eligible for both ScaleUp and ScaleOut, where the ScaleOut solution supports up to 6 Nodes (OLAP only). For E1180, please refer to our previous post.

All Power11 validations include several well-known IBM® Power® features that customers came to know and love over the past years: virtualized shared processor logical partition (SPLPAR), adding removing resources to LPAR dynamically (DLPAR Memory), Live Partition Mobility LPM, as well as IBM's non-volatile memory solution vPMEM. (For more information on our features, see our virtualization best practices guide).

The supported IBM Power processor–based systems are listed in the SAP HANA® Hardware Directory.

For more information and updates on validated configurations, other IBM® Power11 processor–based servers, and features, please always refer to our SAP Note 2188482 (SAP S-UID required).
