NEW RELEASE - Rational Software Architect Designer (RSAD) 11.0

By Rickard Nyman posted 10 days ago

We are pleased to announce the release of Rational Software Architect Designer (RSAD) 11.0. Below we’ll cover most of the new features and enhancements with this release.

Eclipse 4.31 and Java 21

RSAD 11.0 is based on Eclipse 4.31, a long awaited uplift to a recent version. Eclipse 4.31 can still run on Java 17, but now you have the ability to run on Java 21 with its long term support.

OpenAPI 3.0 Enhancements

Support for OpenAPI 3.0 is not new. But in version 11.0, we have added support for the example and examples keywords:

Example Keyword (single sample value):

Examples Keyword (multiple named values):

Refer to the Swagger documentation for more information on the example and examples keywords.

Support for OpenAPI 3.1 - Modeling and Transformation

  • Full compatibility with JSON schema Draft 2020-12, including vocabularies

  • Webhooks support: A top-level webhooks object to describe out-of-band callbacks and events

  • Reusable path items: now allowed to be defined within the components object

  • Info object update: includes a new summary field for a brief description of the API

  • License object update: Introduction of an identifier field to use standard SPDX license IDs.

New Schema Keywords supported:

New palette for OpenAPI 3.1:

NOTE to use v3.1, a new transformation needs to be created.

For both OpenAPI 3.0 and 3.1, RSAD 11.0 will preserve the example structure during import and export.

Migration from Java 17 to Java 21 for transformations

  • The migration to Java 21 ensures compatibility with modern Java runtimes and enterprise standards.

  • Existing UML-to-Java generation and reverse transformation workflows remain stable after upgrade. Validation ensures models from Java 17 continue to generate consistent code under Java 21.

  • Aligning with Java 21 enables support for newer language features and ecosystem tools.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On top of all the above enhancements, we have uplifted the versions of integration with eGit, ClearTeam Explorer, Birt, Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), and a number of minor defects have been fixed.
