Get to know Tom Huntington

mFRB8CQPToiiAOV8GFd1_temp.pngHi, I’m Tom Huntington, Executive Vice President of Technical Solutions for HelpSystems. My role is to share technology talks with customers on Power from around the world. I specialize in automation, high availability, security, and development around IBM Power Systems. I have been a proud IBM Power Champion for the last five years. The best part of being an IBM Champion is being part of a network of distinguished experts, building mutually beneficial relationships, discussing technology challenges, and  sharing information with customers running on the Power Systems platform.  This experience has helped to amplify important research like the IBM i Marketplace Survey Results, which I author annually. As a bonus, being an IBM Power Champion has added a layer credibility—customers and business partners do stop and listen when you’re one of a few select IBM Power Champions from around the world.

On a personal note, I am a father of four and now have one grandchild. My hobbies are water sports: sailing, fishing, boating, skiing, canoeing, and wave runners.  My getaway is a great walk on a beach, any beach!

Most proud of for 2020

2020 started out strong with a flurry of travel for speaking engagements at local user groups, visits to customer sites, educational events, and business partner seminars all around IBM Power Systems. Of course, all travel came to a screeching halt in mid-March. Since then, I have been delivering content through many webinars and individual meetings with customers.

Among my biggest accomplishments this year are three major webinars: 2020 IBM i Marketplace Survey Results Revealed, 2020 AIX Community Survey Results Revealed, and IBM i in 2020: It’s Not Just AS/400 with Steve Will. These three webinars alone drew thousands of attendees from all over the world. I’m grateful that webinar technology makes it possible for me to continue to share information about IBM Power Systems even from my own home. My biggest change is now using my video camera more so people can see me!

Thank you, Tom Huntington!
