IBM HATS 10.0 delivers enhanced security and modern IDE support for host application transformation
Organizations rely on proven 3270 and 5250 host applications for mission-critical operations, but modernizing their user experience while preserving business logic remains challenging. IBM Host Access Transformation Services (HATS) enables rapid interface transformation without modifying underlying applications.
IBM is announcing IBM Host Access Transformation Services 10.0 for Multiplatform and for iSeries, generally available March 19, 2026. This release delivers enhanced security capabilities and expanded IDE support to help organizations modernize their host application experiences.
Transform host applications without rewriting business logic
With IBM HATS, you can rapidly transform the user experience of your 3270 (IBM Z) and 5250 (IBM i) applications without modifying those applications. Using rules-based transformation technology, traditional screens are rendered with intuitive user interfaces. HATS supports flexible deployment as web applications accessible through standard browsers (including mobile), rich client applications for desktop environments, and web services that extend terminal applications as reusable components.
New capabilities in IBM HATS 10.0:
Currency and Platform Updates
Added support for Java EE 8 and Jakarta EE 10, ensuring your transformed applications align with current enterprise Java standards and positioning them for long-term sustainability as the industry transitions to Jakarta EE.
Updated tooling support for the latest Software Development Platforms (SDP)
Provides support for the latest SDPs like Rational Software Architect 10, Rational Application Developer 10, and IBM Business Developer 10, enabling development teams to leverage more modern IDE capabilities while achieving improved productivity.
SAF keyring support for host connections
Enables use of SAF (System Authorization Facility) keyrings as an alternative to JKS files, providing flexible credential management aligned with your z/OS security infrastructure and reducing administrative overhead.
IBM z/OS Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Introduces z/OS MFA to strengthen security for host access, helping you meet modern security requirements and compliance standards while maintaining seamless user access.
Streamlined architecture
Removes JSF (JavaServer Faces) components, simplifying the architecture and improving maintainability while aligning with modern web application development practices.
Quality improvements
Addresses multiple APARs (Authorized Program Analysis Reports) and internal defects to improve stability, reliability, and performance.
