IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS 2Q26 Update (11.0.31.0, 17.0.19.0, 21.0.11.0 & 25.0.3.0) is Released!

We are pleased to announce the general availability of IBM® Semeru Runtime™ Certified Edition for z/OS® 11.0.31.0, 17.0.19.0, 21.0.11.0 and 25.0.3.0 (2Q26 Quarterly Update). These releases contain enhancement and fixes along with the latest security update from OpenJDK 11.0.31+11, 17.0.19+10, 21.0.11+10 and 25.0.3+9 (Apr'26 CPU Update) respectively. The binaries have been made available on our standard distribution sites as on 03rd Jun 2026.

New Features and Key Contents in IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS 11.0.31.0, 17.0.19.0, 21.0.11.0 & 25.0.3.0:

  • Technology preview of FIPS 140-3 is available for IBM z/OS environment as part of these releases.
  • Several key updates in z/OS security components: Cipher.update() method for AES/GCM with clear keys, IBMJCEHYBRID configurable exclusion feature, Maven support for IBM Semeru security providers, KEM service type support in IBMJCECCA, Deprecation of CRYSTALS algorithms (v17+).
  • These releases contain features and fixes from latest releases of Eclipse OpenJ9 project as listed in the OpenJ9 user documentation. Refer to the 'What's New' section of the individual release documentation for details.
  • Security fixes and updates from OpenJDK Apr'26 CPU updates.
  • Other bug fixes and improvements.
