IBM Semeru Runtimes (Open Edition and Certified Edition) (non-z/OS) 2Q26 Quarterly Updates Released!

We are pleased to announce the general availability of IBM^® Semeru Runtimes^™ (Open Edition and Certified Edition) 2Q26 quarterly updates (v8.0.492.0 (Open Edition only), v11.0.31.0, v17.0.19.0, v21.0.11.0, v25.0.3.0 and v26.0.1.0 (Open Edition only)). These releases are based on Eclipse OpenJ9 0.59.0 and OpenJDK jdk8u492-b09 (Open Edition only), jdk-11.0.31+11, jdk-17.0.19+10, jdk-21.0.11+10, jdk-25.0.3+9 and jdk-26.0.1+8 (Open Edition only) respectively. The binaries are made available on our standard distribution sites as on 30^th Apr 2026. With these releases, IBM Semeru Runtimes (Open Edition and Certified Edition) for multi-platforms contain the latest CPU and security fixes from the OpenJDK Apr’26 updates.

FIPS 140-3 Technology Preview is enabled for Linux on IBM Z® 64-bit platform (Semeru Runtimes 11+). Read more about it here.
OpenJCEPlus RSA OAEP support for non SHA1 hash (Semeru Runtimes 11+).
PBE algorithm support in OpenJCEPlus (Semeru Runtimes 11+).
Compiler changes for Linux (Linux x86 64-bit, Linux on POWER® LE 64-bit, and Linux on IBM Z® 64-bit builds on all OpenJDK versions now use the gcc 14.2 compiler).
New -XX:StartFlightRecording command-line option is added (Semeru Runtimes 11+).
New JDK Flight Recorder (JFR) events are added in this release (Semeru Runtimes 11+).

Security fixes from OpenJDK Apr'26 CPU Updates as well as fixes and performance improvements from the latest OpenJ9 (0.59.0).
