This month, we shine the spotlight on Khalid Abu-Elsoud, VP - Head of Design and Development at Alrajhi Capital, and a dedicated IBM Champion for three consecutive years. As the leader of a team of architects and developers, Khalid is known not only for adopting emerging technologies to solve enterprise challenges, but also for shaping how both architecture and development teams work, think, and deliver business outcomes.
His Early Advocacy for IBM Bob
Khalid had witnessed IBM Bob firsthand when it was announced at IBM TechXchange 2025 in Orlando as "Project Bob". Since then, he has seen it evolve from a promising AI solution into an essential AI partner across the software development lifecycle, not just for writing code, but for understanding complex systems at an architectural level.
"Bob can analyze code and data flows, identify vulnerabilities, propose design alternatives, and reason about scalability, performance, and maintainability. For me, this represents the evolution from an AI coding assistant to an Agentic AI engineering partner."
Khalid also uses Bob today to navigate undocumented legacy systems. "Bob helps us reverse-engineer architecture, understand dependencies, and it amplifies the architectβs ability to reason about complex systems," he continues.
Advocacy Through Case Studies
Khalid's advocacy thrives through case studies, where he turns complex technology journeys into public success stories. "I enjoy showing publicly how technology solves actual challenges and creates measurable business value," he explains.
Khalid also takes particular pride in being recognized as an IBM Champion for three consecutive years. This reflects for him an ongoing journey of learning, genuine advocacy and connecting with Champion peers, rather than a one-time achievement.
Advice for Aspiring Champions
As per Khalid, Champion recognition should be the result of advocacy, not the reason for it. With the nominations cycle opening soon, he offers this thoughtful guidance: Share what you learn, help others succeed, contribute with intention, authenticity, and impact!
The IBM Champion program represents a natural extension of Khalidβs lifelong commitment to knowledge sharing. "Throughout my career, I have benefited greatly from technical communities, so contributing back became a natural part of my journey," he says.
IBM TechXchange Event: Learning and Community in Action
He describes IBM TechXchange 2025 in Orlando as the best technology event he has attended in a long time. He particularly enjoyed getting hands-on exposure to IBM technologies and exchanging ideas directly with IBM global experts and fellow Champions. "That combination of learning and community is what makes TechXchange special," Khalid notes.
Beyond Technology
If not in technology, Khalid would pursue his dream of becoming a travel and food critic ππ½οΈ. "Getting paid to travel, eat, and give my opinion sounds like an enjoyable career plan!" he says with a smile :)
