Organizations running mission-critical Db2 for z/OS environments continue to demand deeper visibility, modern analytics, and rapid problem determination across hybrid workloads. APAR PH70504 (PTFs UO08523/UO08524) delivers a significant set of functional enhancements across the OMEGAMON for Db2 ecosystem, including improvements to the Enhanced 3270 UI, Java Batch reporting, Application Trace Facility (ATF) integration, Db2 13 currency support, and numerous customer-requested enhancements.

Enhanced 3270 UI Delivers Richer Table Space Monitoring
One of the most requested enhancements (21 votes!), AHA Idea TMSZ-I-92, extends Db2 Table Space monitoring into the Enhanced 3270 UI.
The following workspaces now provide integrated table space visibility:
- Navigate to the function from your entry panel using option "More ..." and then select option "U Table Space Usage":
- On panel KDPXDBS select Databases to exclude from the table space monitoring result as well as the threshold to be monitored, meaning show only those table spaces which are full to a certain percentage level:
- The will open panel KDPTSUS where you see the respective table space in the database context. You can further filter down or sort as needed.
This enhancement enables operators to correlate database activity with underlying table space behavior directly from the Enhanced 3270 UI without requiring context switching to other monitoring interfaces. The result is faster identification of storage issues, growth trends, and performance bottlenecks affecting critical applications.

End-to-End Transaction Flow Analysis with Combined CICS and Db2 ATF
A major observability enhancement delivered by PH70504 is support for a combined ATF view spanning:

- OMEGAMON AI for Db2 6.1.0
Customers can now follow transaction flows across both CICS and Db2 components using correlated Application Trace Facility data.
This capability significantly improves diagnostic efficiency by allowing support teams to:

Expanded Real-Time and Historical Visibility with Buffer Pool PageFix attribute
Customer AHA Request DB2ZOMEGA-I-88 asked to support the QDBPPFIX flag which indicates whether a page in a Db2 Buffer Pool is fixed to real storage after its first use. Support is added to:
- Enhanced 3270 UI real-time displays
- Persistent Data Store (PDS) historical views
This enhancement allows administrators to better understand subsystem and object states when reviewing current activity or investigating historical performance scenarios.
By exposing this information consistently across both real-time and historical interfaces, analysts will be given the opportunity to add the attribute to Situations and gain a more complete picture of workload behavior and system conditions over time.
New Support for Transfer Ownership and Refresh Table Operations
As part of AHA idea DB2ZOMEGA-I-97, PH70504 adds support for two Db2 administrative operations:
- Transfer Ownership (QXTRNOWN)
- Refresh Table (QXREFTBL)
These activities are now captured and processed within:
- Classic Batch Reports
- Java Batch Reports
- PDB/CSV processing
- ODP PDB Streamer function
This enhancement ensures that you can accurately track and report these activities across operational reporting and downstream analytics platforms.
Important: ACCOUNTING support for Refresh Table operations requires Db2 for z/OS APAR PH70917.
Expansion of Java Batch Reporting
PH70504 substantially enhances Java Batch capabilities.
Statistics Report and Trace Support
Java Batch now implements virtually all Classic Batch Statistics report blocks, with the exception of "Data Set Statistics" and "Db2 Profile Statistics".
This further aligns Java Batch functionality with established Classic Batch reporting capabilities while supporting modernization initiatives.
While most of the Report Block structures are the same as in Classic Batch, there are some places where Java Batch is different, like in the following new DPMLOG output that lists a better summary of the data processed:
More RECTRACE Support
The Java Batch RECTRACE facility has been significantly expanded.
- Audit Trace Support for IFCID 140.
- Locking Trace Support for IFCIDs 20, 45, 149, 150, 172, 196, 211–216, 218, 223, 226, 227, 337 and 437.
- SQL Activity Trace Support for IFCIDs 53, 55, 58, 59, 60–66, 68, 237, 247, 316, 350 and 401
These additions significantly increase the range of trace data that can be processed through Java-based Record Trace reporting pipelines.
RECTRACE FILE Processing
The Java Batch Reporter has been extended to support FILE capabilities.
The first IFCID that is supported is IFCID 316, which represents the metrics for statements evicted from the Db2 z/OS Dynamic Statement Cache. More to follow!!
Staying Current with Db2 13 Enhancements
PH70504 also includes several updates that keep OMEGAMON aligned with recent Db2 13 function levels and APARs.

Quality Improvements and Resolved Issues
PH70504 also delivers a small number of corrective fixes.
- Resolved an issue where DSG history data was not displayed correctly for Threads, DDF, Profiles and BIND panels.
- Fixed a problem causing Java Client sessions to terminate unexpectedly after event exception processing began.
- Removed obsolete "v6" references from the product name in the PDS attribute group.
- Addressed an issue where overly long Message IDs prevented data from being returned in Db2 Messages workspaces and related interfaces.
- Corrected ODP PDB Streamer error message handling for message FPEO997E.
