APAR PH69153 - The first enhancement release for OMEGAMON AI for Db2 6.1.0 has arrived!

By Matthias Tschaffler posted 04/20/26 11:48 AM

Abstract

APAR PH69153 (PTF UO07468) is the first enhancement APAR for OMEGAMON AI for Db2 6.1.0.
It is filled with various enhancements and fixeas and contains a couple of customer customer‑driven improvements (AHA ideas).
It also brings better visibility and deeper Db2 13 insights, enhanced reporting, support for smarter automation, and adds the OMEGAMON Db2 support for the new TOM Single SYSPLEX mode, which is particularly valuable for MSP environments. Read on for more details!

Performance Database Streaming

Using ODP, you can stream Performance Database (PDB) FILE or SAVE-CONVERT data to your analytical stack of choice (Elasticsearch, Splunk, Prometheus etc.) and visualize the data using modern dashboard technologies like Grafana.

With this PTF, the FULL PDB ODP streamer coverage is available as it also includes the Locking, Exceptions, and Index Split tables. Or in other words, all the data that you can load into PDB tables can now be streamed using ODP!

Enhanced 3270 UI Improvements

Inactive Thread Display (KDPTHDIN)

Thanks to customer AHA request DB2ZOMEGA‑I‑81, the Enhanced 3270 UI now includes the Enhanced UI version of the popular Classic ZINACT panel, offering deeper insight into inactive threads without needing to switch to the Classic interface. The following screenshots shows the overview screen. Zooming into the details is supported as well.

Support for TOM Single SYSPLEX mode

The OMEGAMON AI for Db2 support for the TOM Single-Sysplex mode is part of this PTF.

If a customer has a HUB that monitors several SYSPLEXes, starting a TOM in Single-Sysplex mode will give them a performance benefit that can be significant.

The TOM Single SYSPLEX mode is a powerful capability for managed service providers that host multiple customer environments (SYSYPLEXes) using a single HUB.

Full support requires OMNIBASE APAR OA68871.

Batch Reporter Enhancements

Secure Connection Indicator

This new Db2 13 IFCID 3 metric introduced by Db2 APAR PH67815 now appears in the ACCOUNTING TRACE and RECTRACE report sets and is also supported in the ACCOUNTING TRACE PDB table DB2PMFACCT_DDF.
The metric enables customers with a comfortable way to monitor whether an incoming transaction is using TLS encryption or not. This can be useful for compliance reasons (the 5.5.0 support for this metric is delivered as PH69675/UO06886).

Refresh Cross Invalidated Pages metrics

In Db2 13, a new metric in the Database Statistics IFCID 2 is introduced that will capture the number of pages refreshed synchronously due to a local invalidate.
Along with the IFCID 2 change, IFCID 201 changes that capture the before/after values for the enhanced ALTER BUFFERPOOL statement are introduced as well.

These changes are now supported in the RECTRACE, STATISTICS and SYSPARMS report set, as well as the respective PDB tables DB2PMSTAT_BUFFER and DB2PMSYSPAR_201.

New IFCID 396 (Long Index Page Split) support

Implemented via AHA DB2ZOMEGA‑I‑82 and now available in Batch RECTRACE report set and PDB table DB2PMFRTRC_IXSPLIT.

Externalized EDM Pool statistics metrics

Db2 13 introduced new instrumentation metrics that will externalize new EDM statistics to help customers tune EDM pools and identify the root cause of performance issues due to low cache ratio in the EDM statement cache pool, skeleton pool, and DBD pools.

The new metrics are now supported in the STATISTICS report set block "EDM POOL" and the PDB table DB2PM_STAT_GENERAL.

Java Batch RECTRACE

Added support for RECTRACE for IFCIDs 3, 239 and 417.

Operational Improvements

  • CPU processing efficiencies introduced between collector and agent. The amount of CPU savings depends on the workload and configuration ("mileage varies").
  • New startup messages (KO2Z0530I, KDPIRA02I, KDPIRA03E) support easier automation and health checks.
  • Automatic product registration using IFAEDREG. Both the OMEGAMON Db2 Collector and the Agent address
spaces register themselves at startup, allowing to capture the registration using SMF 89 data.
  • A new FPEC0114I message in Batch Reporter shows the current APAR level in the DPMLOG DD which is useful for both customers and IBM service.

Other Enhancements

  • The product license files are now packaged in member  KD5LICEN of data set TKANDATV.
  • Updated configuration parameter help content including KD2_CLASSIC_TIMEOUT explanations.
  • More robust Performance Database compatibility diagnostics and better messages (added FPED1001E–FPED1008I).

Fixes

  • Fixes from 5.5.0 APAR PH67729 (UO05413) are integrated in this 6.1.0 release.
  • Updated the Performance Database sample query  TKO2SAMP(DGOSQXCL) to properly cast TIMESTAMP columns.
  • Resolved Classic NTH correlation issues in Classic panel ZHATACT.
  • Corrected inactive connection count in Classic HDFD major command.

Your Ideas Matter!

As you have seen customer AHA ideas directly shaped this APAR — and we encourage you to keep sharing your ideas!
