In our ongoing efforts to modernize and bring currency to one of IBM's integrated development environments (IDE), we are pleased to announce the release of Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software (RAD) version 11.0. The following details new features and updates that can have a positive impact on RAD users.
Eclipse 4.31 and Java 21
With RAD v11.0, we have upgraded to IBM Eclipse SDK 4.31 (2024.03), which includes support for Java 21, allowing you to further leverage the benefits of modern Eclipse and Java capabilities.
Jira Integration
This addition allows Jira users to handle all Jira-related operations from within RAD, providing for a seamless integration with RAD that is on par with other IDEs in the market today.
Support for Axis2 Web Services
Apache Axis2, the successor to the widely used Apache Axis SOAP stack, is a "NextGen" Web Services JSON/SOAP/WSDL engine. RAD v11.0 now provides support for developing/deploying applications with Axis2 Web service runtime.
Along with the above additions, RAD version 11.0 modernizes the development environment with the following updated integrations and platform support, helping enable teams to adopt newer technologies:
● Egit support upgraded to Egit 6.10
● Websphere Developer Tools for Eclipse (WDT) support upgraded to version 25.2
● ClearTeam Explorer support upgraded to version 11.0.0.06
