Discover the latest enhancements in IBM Blueworks Live. The March 2026 release builds on the modernization journey by delivering faster AI‑driven insights, stronger governance safeguards, and expanded administrative and API capabilities. Together, these updates help organizations scale process intelligence with confidence, efficiency, and enterprise‑grade control.

Key Features and Highlights

🔹 Smarter, faster insights with Blueworks Live IQ (technology preview)

Blueworks Live IQ takes a major step forward in this release, offering a more seamless and professional conversational experience designed to help teams move from process understanding to action, faster. Key benefits include:

  • Quicker delivery of insights and recommendations, helping teams analyze processes and identify opportunities without delay.
  • Improved visual structure of AI responses, making outputs clearer, more actionable, and easier to share with stakeholders.
  • AI‑generated, data‑driven business cases, enabling stronger stakeholder alignment and more informed decision‑making when prioritizing transformations.

Together, these enhancements make Blueworks Live IQ a powerful accelerator for continuous improvement and investment clarity.

🔹 Modernized login experience

As part of the broader user interface modernization program, the login page has been refreshed to align with the contemporary design already introduced in the Administration console.
This ensures a consistent, modern first impression and reinforces usability improvements across the platform.

🔹 Stronger governance to ensure workflow continuity

This release introduces smarter workflow continuity logic, helping organizations maintain momentum even as user roles change.
  • When a user is archived, their assigned workflows are automatically reassigned to the process app owner.
  • If the process app owner is no longer available, workflows are seamlessly redirected to the account administrator.
This enhancement minimizes operational risk, prevents work from stalling, and strengthens governance across process apps and work instances.

🔹 Expanded account‑level management and customization

Administrators gain greater flexibility and precision when managing Blueworks Live accounts:

  • In the Customization tab, Admins can now define whether Admins and Editors are allowed to copy spaces to other Blueworks Live accounts—supporting controlled collaboration across environments.
  • Custom number properties now support up to 15 digits, enabling more accurate data capture and better alignment with financial, operational, or external tracking systems.

These updates empower admins to tailor governance and data models to enterprise requirements more effectively.

🔹 Enhanced APIs for performance, transparency, and future readiness

The Blueworks Live APIs continue to evolve to support scalable integrations and robust governance:

  • The enhanced Activity API (GET /bwl/activities) now offers improved performance and advanced filtering, enabling deeper visibility into account activity for audit, compliance, and reporting use cases.
  • A clear deprecation path is defined for the legacy BPMN export API, ensuring customers can migrate smoothly to future‑proof alternatives.

Together, these changes strengthen transparency, reliability, and long‑term compatibility for enterprise integrations.
