New automated and AI-assisted capabilities support an end-to-end application modernization lifecycle with auto discovery, refactor, language conversion, and testing.  Watsonx Code Asssitant for Z includes a watsonx.ai Large Language Model tuned for COBOL to Java translation. Rich demoed a new generative AI service that complements the extensive capabilities offered for COBOL modernization, enabling selective conversion to Java on z/OS.
