IBM API Connect Now Available on IBM Power

We’re thrilled to announce that with the release of IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration v16.1.1, IBM API Connect is now available on IBM® Power®. Bringing the comprehensive integration capabilities of IBM API Connect to the Power architecture (ppc64le) with Red Hat® OpenShift® opens the door for existing clients to continue conducting incremental modernization initiatives alongside their incumbent workloads. Leveraging IBM API Connect on Red Hat OpenShift on Power, prospective clients can begin down a path towards modernization and increase operational efficiencies with peace of mind, knowing their data is secure as they build, manage, and share APIs.

API Management Driving Integration

Integration is essential today, allowing businesses to connect, automate, and digitally transform their applications and services. Propelling businesses’ integration objectives is API Management. API Management is the scalable process of creating, publishing, and managing application programming interface (API) connections—sharing them, controlling access, tracking their usage, and enforcing security policies—within an enterprise and multi-cloud setting. IBM Cloud Pak for Integration is widely recognized as a leader in the API Management market.

IBM API Connect on IBM Power

IBM API Connect is a valuable component of IBM Cloud Pak for Integration, acting as a scalable API platform for creating, socializing, managing, and monetizing APIs. API Connect can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid cloud environment. With API Connect, organizations can scale operations with a convenient and standardized means of sharing data and services. API Connect enables organizations to capitalize on integration to deliver new services faster with improved productivity and automation for a unified experience.

Leveraging IBM Power infrastructure allows clients to respond faster to business demands, protect data from core to cloud, and streamline insights and automation. Power servers provide the agility, reliability, and sustainability that organizations require, making it the ideal platform for API Management. Deploying IBM API Connect on Red Hat OpenShift on Power provides a secure API gateway on enterprise-class servers.

Summary

IBM API Connect is a game-changer for Power clients looking to continue down a path towards modernization managing APIs. Creating and managing APIs to enable digital business through new channels while securing the enterprise to protect access to critical assets are just a few of the functions that make API Connect an invaluable tool. Embracing IBM API Connect on Power with Red Hat OpenShift can help your organization efficiently build, manage, and share APIs with flexibility and security.

We look forward to working with clients and Business Partners to make their modernization objectives a reality with IBM API Connect on Power and take advantage of the capabilities this solution has to offer.

For an API Gateway in front of IBM i, I have been exploring Apache APISix. Am I correct that APIConnect on a Red Hat LPAR on Power could gateway for APIs running on a peer IBM i LPAR?
