IBM and HPE Expand Interoperability with FlashSystem Support for HPE VM Essentials

IBM is pleased to highlight expanded interoperability with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), as IBM FlashSystem storage is now officially supported with HPE VM Essentials (VME) 8.1.x environments.

HPE VM Essentials is part of HPE’s virtualization and cloud management portfolio, built on HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software. Morpheus provides a unified platform for provisioning, orchestration, automation, and governance across virtualized and hybrid cloud environments. VM Essentials extends these capabilities with a streamlined hypervisor and virtualization stack designed to simplify infrastructure operations while maintaining enterprise-grade performance and flexibility.

With this qualification, IBM FlashSystem can present block storage directly to HPE’s hypervisor layer, enabling customers to leverage FlashSystem’s high performance, advanced data services, and industry-leading reliability within HPE VM Essentials deployments. This integration supports common enterprise workloads while maintaining consistent storage management and efficiency across environments.

Official support for this configuration is now available through both organizations:

  • HPE has published interoperability details on its support portal, confirming compatibility with VM Essentials 8.1.x.
  • IBM has included this support in the FlashSystem SSIC (System Storage Interoperation Center) tool, making it easy for sellers and technical teams to validate configurations and guide customer deployments.

This milestone reinforces IBM’s commitment to open, flexible infrastructure that integrates seamlessly across leading platforms. Customers can confidently deploy HPE VM Essentials with IBM FlashSystem, combining powerful virtualization capabilities with proven enterprise storage.
