IBM Edge Computing Solutions – Changing the Future of Enterprise Data

By Isaiah Brown posted Tue May 05, 2020 12:03 AM

Edge computing brings computation and data storage closer to where data is created by people, places, and things, in the process enabling new client experiences, faster insights and actions, and continuous operations. Combined with 5G, Edge computing creates tremendous opportunities for new products, platforms, and experiences in every industry. And while only 10% of enterprise data today is processed at the Edge, by 2025, that number is projected to skyrocket to 75%.

In accordance with this changing landscape of enterprise data management and processing, IBM is set to announce two new offerings at the Edge:

  • IBM Edge Solutions: Including IBM Edge Application Manager on Red Hat OpenShift, IBM’s Edge-enabled applications and services, and IBM Services for Edge.
  • IBM Telco Network Cloud Solutions: Including IBM Telco Network Cloud Manager on Red Hat OpenShift, and IBM Services for Telco Network Cloud.

By extending cloud computing to the Edge, these solutions will provide for autonomous management capabilities that address new challenges of massive scale, variability, and rate of change. Moreover, these solutions will modernize telecom networks to deliver all-new services at the Edge. Additionally, IBM will offer its customers extensive industry expertise and a robust ecosystem of telco operators, networking, and IT providers.
