IBM z/OS Container Platform (zOSCP) 1.1 enhancements, which includes open-source upgrades and availability of Podman 5 with system services support are now available via PTFs.

IBM z/OS Container Platform, zOSCP, utilizes industry-standard open-source technologies to build, deploy, run and manage containerized z/OS UNIX applications natively on z/OS. The product delivers a container runtime, Kubernetes orchestration, and High Availability and load balancing capabilities to manage the availability and scalability demands of a Kubernetes cluster.

This IBM z/OS Container Platform 1.1 update, the 3rd 2025 Continuous Delivery (CD2503), is shipped with PTFs for the following APARs: OA68289, OA68335, OA68336, OA68337, OA68338, OA68339, OA68340, OA68341 OA68342, OA68343, OA68344, OA68345, OA68346

Enhancements

• Availability of Podman5

• Podman 5 introduces a system service command that makes it easier to manage containers, eliminating the need for complex setups or administrative privileges. Users can now manage their container lifecycle through a REST API interface, easily creating, starting, stopping, or removing containers. • Open-source component upgrades:

• IBM z/OS Control Plane Appliance (zCPA) is upgraded to 1.33.3

• Kubelet for IBM z/OS is upgraded to version 1.33.3

• cri-o for IBM z/OS is upgraded to version 1.33.3

• Umoci for IBM z/OS is upgraded to version 0.5.0

• IBM z/OS for conmon is upgraded to version 2.1.13

• Podman for IBM z/OS is upgraded to version 5.4.1
