As part of IBM’s ongoing commitment to innovation and modernization, IBM® has announced the withdrawal of select Power® hardware features effective in Q3 2025.1
This marks a pivotal moment for IT leaders, Oracle DBAs, and infrastructure architects to reassess legacy environments and accelerate their journey toward more resilient, automated, and hybrid-ready infrastructure.
What’s Changing with IBM Power?IBM is retiring a range of legacy Power Systems features, including:
  • Miscellaneous components across older Power8 and Power9 models
  • Field-installed features and activation options
  • Select administrative feature codes for IBM i P30 Enterprise Edition1
These changes reflect IBM’s strategic shift toward Power11 and Power Virtual Server platforms, which offer unmatched scalability, security, and cloud-like flexibility.
