In the month of March, following Red Hat products were released on IBM Power, and here are a few highlights of these releases:

What’s New:

ACS 4.10.0: Features such as vulnerability management for virtual machine workloads, global node taints and tolerations in custom resources, standardized base image definition and layer detection and more.

Service Mesh 3.3.0: Added support for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and enabled ambient to run on FIPS mode.

GitOps 1.20.0: Changes to Argo CD authentication with external authentication enabled, enhanced wildcard support, and more.

Fixed issue:

Before this update, the ApplicationSet controller

lacked permission to list AppProject resources at the

cluster scope. As a result, reconciliation failed

when ApplicationSet resources were created in

namespaces other than the default Argo CD

namespace. With this release, the controller

ClusterRole is updated to include the required

permissions for appprojects.argoproj.io.

Before this update, the spec.namespace field in the ImageUpdater Custom Resource (CR) specified the namespace where the controller searched for target applications. With this update, the spec.namespace field is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. The controller now uses the metadata.namespace of the ImageUpdater resource to identify target applications.

With this update, Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines General Availability (GA) 1.15.4 is available on OpenShift Container Platform 4.14 and later versions.

  •         Operator logging levels are corrected to reduce extraneous log output.

With this update, Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines General Availability (GA) 1.20.3 is available on OpenShift Container Platform 4.14 and later versions.

  •         Non-HTTP(S) pipeline URLs are skipped before parsing, resolving 'invalid port' errors
  •         Custom Hub catalog types are correctly determined.

With this update, Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines General Availability (GA) 1.21.1 is available on OpenShift Container Platform 4.14 and later versions.

                             

Fixed issues:

  •         Operator webhook no longer panics for matrixed v1beta1 Pipelines with invalid variable substitutions
  •         Custom Hub catalog type is correctly set based on the provided URL.

Service Mesh 2.6.14

Support for OCP versions 4.14 and later.

This release of Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh includes ServiceMeshControlPlane resource version 2.6.14.

Service Mesh 2.6.14 supports:

  •        Istio - 1.20.8
  •         Envoy proxy - 1.28.8

Fixed issues:

  •         Before this update, a bug in Istio caused smart load balancing issues in OpenShift AI and llm-d, leading to poor load distribution. This update fixes the issue, improving stability when sharing a Gateway.
  •          Previously, in FIPS-enabled clusters, heavy TLS processing caused the Envoy main thread to miss keepalive signals, leading to xDS proxy disconnections.
    The update increases the keepalive timeout from 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
