Understanding IFCID 417 for Db2 Data Sharing

By Ashish Padhi posted Thu April 09, 2026 05:30 PM

IFCID 417 records remote client information about inventory statistics for client users, applications, and driver levels by location that access Db2. This IFCID is only available for Db2 13 or later.
When correlated with IFCID 365, 411, and 412, IFCID 417 helps identify applications using the Db2 Connect gateway, along with their user IDs, product IDs, and IP addresses.

IFCID 417 is supported by IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Db2, which provides detailed visibility into remote client inventory information such as application name, user ID, IP address, and driver levels.
It is also used by IBM Db2 AI for z/OS (Db2ZAI), where IFCID 417 is part of the statistics collected to analyze distributed client behavior and driver information for monitoring and training purposes.

Use Cases

1. Identifying Problematic Remote Clients
IFCID 417 enables DBAs to quickly pinpoint remote applications using outdated, unsupported, or special‑build Db2 client drivers by capturing driver product ID, build level, and license details. This helps isolate clients that may be causing connectivity or performance issues before they affect the subsystem.

2. Enhancing Distributed Workload Visibility
By correlating IFCID 417 with IFCIDs 365, 411, and 412, DBAs gain clear insight into which applications are connecting through Db2 Connect-along with the associated user IDs and IP addresses-making it easier to diagnose issues in distributed access paths and understand client behavior patterns.

Who Benefits From IFCID 417

Organizations running Db2 for z/OS with distributed or data‑sharing workloads gain the most value from IFCID 417 because it provides detailed insight into remote client applications, drivers, licensing, and connection behavior.
