Thank you to everyone who joined our recent NS1 Connect webinar, where we introduced DNS Insights, the new DNS observability capability now available directly within the NS1 Connect portal.

The session explored how DNS observability can help organizations gain greater visibility into DNS traffic, identify anomalies more quickly, and simplify troubleshooting without relying solely on external monitoring tools.

One of the key messages from the webinar was that DNS is often the first place where operational issues become visible. Whether it's an application misconfiguration, an unexpected traffic spike, or unusual query patterns, DNS data can provide valuable signals that help teams investigate and resolve issues faster.

We discussed several real-world use cases, including:

• Detecting application misconfigurations through increased NXDOMAIN responses
• Identifying unusual traffic patterns and potential security concerns
• Accelerating root cause analysis during operational incidents
• Reducing unnecessary DNS traffic and improving efficiency

The team also demonstrated how DNS Insights provides visibility into DNS activity through a portal-native dashboard, including traffic trends, query volumes, NXDOMAIN activity, geographic traffic distribution, resolver information, and anomaly detection metrics.

For customers with existing observability investments, DNS Insights can also integrate with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry-compatible platforms, providing flexibility to use either the NS1 Connect portal, external tooling, or both.

Attendees shared valuable feedback throughout the session:

• 60% currently use external observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog
• 40% still rely primarily on manual DNS investigation
• 40% identified unusual traffic patterns and anomalies as their biggest DNS visibility challenge
• 50% prefer integrating DNS data into their existing observability platforms
• Session feedback was very positive, with 60% rating the webinar Excellent and 40% rating it Good
