IBM Process Automation Manager Open Edition and IBM Decision Manager Open Edition are IBM's newest offerings in the business automation area. Formerly available as Red Hat Process Automation Manager and Red Hat Decision Manager, these open source solutions give developers the ability to build cloud-native applications that automate business operations.   David Jenness welcomes members of the PAM and DM product management team to introduce you to these offerings and how they fit into IBM's Automation porfolio.

Key Speakers


David Jenness is a writer and public speaker who specializes in communicating the benefits of new technologies to business decision-makers. For IBM’s Digital Business Automation, Mr. Jenness writes executive speeches and videos, coordinates its worldwide user groups and online Community, and produces live and virtual events. Prior to 2010, Mr. Jenness performed a similar role with capture pioneer Datacap for 12 years.  


Alex Porcelli is the Chief Architect for IBM Process Automation and Decision Manager Open Edition. A professional developer with more than 25 years of experience, Alex has been an active member of many open-source communities for more than 15 years with contributions to projects such as Drools, jBPM, Kogito, Hibernate, and many others. Before joining IBM, he worked at Red Hat for more than 10 years in individual contributor and leadership roles driving the Red Hat Business Automation product line. Alex is also a frequent international speaker at tech events like QCon, JavaOne, CodeOne, Red Hat Summit, and DevNation.


Barry Lulas is the product manager for IBM Decision Manager Open Edition. An expert in the field of decision and process management, enterprise architecture, and product development, he has over 35 years of experience in commercial and corporate software architecture, design, development, governance, and testing, including roles at ILOG and Red Hat. He has led dozens of organizations in their adoption of decision and process management as well as pioneered model-driven decision management methodologies and tools. He is now focused on bringing open source business automation to IBM by combining the best of Red Hat and IBM Business Automation technologies. 


Phil Simpson recently joined IBM from Red Hat, where he spent the last 10 years working with Red Hat's business automation product line, first in product marketing, and then as product manager. His history with business rules and workflow extends further, beginning as product manager for a startup, RulesPower, building one of the first workflow systems powered by a rules engine. Phil's other notable roles have included marketing video distribution platforms for cable TV, architect for speech recognition software, consulting for travel industry clients, and a run at building a SaaS business for fantasy sports players.
