  • 1.  Sub- vs. Full-Capacity

    Posted Mon July 29, 2024 06:33 PM

    Hi All,

This may have been answered, but my searches (possibly using incorrect terms?) did not lead to an answer.

This is a "new" installation of ILMT, for a divested entity, and the dashboard indicates all is functioning correctly. However, the full- and sub-capacity metrics are the same. Can you give me some hints as to where this error could be occurring?  My thoughts are either the VM Manager, the VM configuration, or a lack of history in ILMT (we just got things configured to report completely).

    Thanks,

    Burton

    Hello,

the same metrics for the full- and sub-capacity doesn't really say anything...
    Please upload some '
Hardware Inventory' report output for the machines which has those product installed....

    Hello,

    Two things,

    1)
That excerpt from 'Hardware Inventory' report is missing two crucial columns:  'Capacity Scan Status' & 'PVU per Core

    2)
Open up the Subcapacity metric report, under 'Metric quantity' column click the link for a product in question (the one which uses some Subcapacity metric).
A 'PVU Subcapacity Product' report should show up.
It shows all servers on which the product was installed...please share that output.

    Hello,

I was attempting to keep the screenshot to a reasonable size in the previous reply.

    For #1:

    for #2.

    Thank you for your input.

    Hello,

To be honest I don't see any irregularities here,
'PVU per Core' value is correct, 'Server cores' vs 'Partition cores' ratio looks typical.

As to the those MS Azure boxes,
    there is one rule for
x86 public clouds: PVU full capacity always equals PVU subcapacity.
Probably those are the ones which confused you....
