  • 1.  ICN getDocument: Download PDF-Files in Browser View ?

    Posted Tue September 10, 2024 11:54 AM

    Hello,

A customer has set in the ViewerMap in the ICN that PDF documents should be opened in the browser.
For security reasons, the browser is configured so that PDF files are displayed directly in the browser and not in an associated app such as Acrobat Reader.
If the user now wants to download the PDF document, this does not work because the browser tries to download the PDF from FileNet in the background via getDocument, but this fails.

Is this worked as desgined, or is there a parameter/configuration that can be set so that the PDF can be downloaded via the browser.

I am of course aware that you can download documents directly in ICN via Download/as PDF or if you download PDF e.g. in Acrobat, but it is a customer request to do it via the browser.

    Regards
    Michael

    Hello Michael.
Use the print option in the browser and "save as PDF" in the printer dialog box will get the PDF downloaded.

    Hope this will help.

Just curious...in the browser, if the user chooses File > Save Page As   -- what happens?

    Conifguration Viewer Map

    Document was open in Browser

Either choosing the Context Menu "Save as .." or click the downloan button, you will get the Save Dialog.

When click on Save, you see following error in the Download Section

But Yasir suggestion works.  Select Print and "Save as PDF" will "download" the file as getDocument.pdf per default.

It is quicker for the customer to open the PDF in the browser and then save it via the download button.
He will probably have to live with the fact that he has to make just as many mouse clicks as download the file over ICN directly :-)

    Thanks for help
    Michael
