  • 1.  Downloading all documents and meta-data of a document class in an ObjectStore

    Posted Sat July 02, 2022 01:30 AM
    Hi Team,

I did set up a non-application server based java application on my machine, I can connect to the FileNet server and fetch the properties of the documents based on the GUID provided. But I would like to download the documents of a document class along with properties. Can someone help me with  getting the documents based on the document class.

    Thanks a bunch in advance!

You need to set up a query as described in:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/filenet-p8-platform/5.5.x?topic=queries-working

Before that set up a property filter that includes the properties your need. In the hitlist der are the object ids that you need...

    Hope this helps,

    /Gerold

it you want professional replies, would be better to complete your profile with a human one and not this Ask A...

Now to download a "file" of a document...

Get a look in the ... development guide....  https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/filenet-p8-platform/5.5.x?topic=comfilenetapicore-contentelement
and refer to the content element:
-A document in P8 can have more elements, do not forget this and for each of them you have the type and the content.
    - did you think anything about the document versions?
    - have your documents annotations?
it is not as simple as most of the people could think... P8 is a professional IBM (old FileNet) software developed over the years... anyway
    good luck

    Hi,
As you wrote me privately you need a very complex application, export on Docclass base document properties, versions annotation perhaps export and import securities of the documents ??? etc... You have 2 possibilities:

    • to develop this alone, which take "some" time efforts and money based on the IBM P8 development Guide, which can be found in internet including samples or
    • to follow the suggestion Olaf Schwalb gave you in the other created discussion in community and use a very good professional  IBM software product IBM UpdateManagerCE and for import IBM BatchItCE instead of Bulkimport
    https://community.ibm.com/community/user/automation/discussion/exporting-documents-from-filenet#bma2f28d82-8e72-4e33-8dad-2c0211d48b56

You can also have a support for both products and use them each time, you want for example to change the securities of the documents to update properteis for documents in one step...
Take first your time to make a good decision...

    good luck
