  • 1.  Datacap 9.1.7 Interim Fix 001 is missing from Fix Central

    Hello
    I am trying to assess the impact of raising the client's Datacap version from 9.1.3 to 9.1.7.
    9.1.7 currently has IF2. I saw IF1 a couple of months ago but FixCentral seemed to have removed it.
    I cannot find 9.1.7 IF1 Release note anywhere.
    I'd like to know what is fixed, which I think are all included in IF2 but not mentioned in IF2 release note.
    If you have a link to 9.1.7 IF1 Release note or the file itself, could please attach it?

    Hi, 

    I've been talking to the product owner and support today. We don't have access to the IF1 notes right now, but they verified that Ifix 2 has the list of fixes done on the base 917.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I think I saw a fix on IF1 Release note that was about fixing mvscan creating a huge log file as the action appended the polling log to the RRS log an every few seconds. But this was not on IF2 Release note.
    In 9.1.7 mvscan does not create a large log file anymore, which is good, but now it is inserting records in Taskstats table like tens-hundreds times more now, 
    requiring the use of  "skipsamebatch" option.
    I hope to see this fix description again. Do you have this fix information?
    (The client is demanding we check every significant change done to Datacap in 9.1.3-9.1.7
    after we found 2 critical issues testing with 9.1.7 in the client's environment.)

    Hi Dai,

    Everything that was fixed in ifix 1 is now in the base Datacap 9.1.7 installer that is currently on passport advantage.

    The old Datacap 9.1.7 ifix 1 should not be installed on the new Datacap 9.1.7 installer.

    You should install Datacap 9.1.7 along with ifix 2 from passport advantage and work from the release notes for 9.1.7 and ifix 2.

    Thanks for reply.
    There are several clients running Datacap version below 9.1.3.
    To estimate upgrade impact to 9.1.5 - 9.1.7, I am collecting IF release notes that can tell what feature is fixed or added.
    I know Datacap only supports as far as two fix versions back, but some clients may prefer older fix version, like 9.1.5.
    So, I have all IF release notes since 9.1.3, but 9.1.7 IF1. 
    I hope Support team puts the IF1 release note back on somewhere.

    Hi Dai,

    The current 9.1.7 build and the ifix2 release notes have what you need.

    However, the primary metric on estimating effort to upgrade is not so much the new and fixed features, it is the deprecated actions. You need to load a given application into 9.1.7 and see what actions are flagged as deprecated. That will give you the clearest picture of the effort needed to upgrade.

    It does not make much sense for customers to move to 9.1.5 at this point, it is now out of support and will not get any more fixes. 9.1.7 is LTSR and is the release that customers should target.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
    mvscan's behavior is explicitly changed and I cannot find any description about it. 
    So I am guessing it is on 9.1.7 IF1 release note.
    mvscan now delete the task's rrlog as it polls each time.
    I wouldn't mind this part, but it also polls more than 10 times per second now.
    Before 9.1.7, mvscan polls at interval of 2-3 seconds (without using skipsamebatch option).
    This subtle change has introduced an unexplainable usage of the resource in the project until I found out that this specification change was the cause.
    I also found a few other unnotified changes and issues beyond 9.1.3 in my quick evalution.
    I have written about these in this community.
