I'm attempting to install BAW with latest version. Will following installs make it current?

First install - IBM Business Automation Workflow Enterprise 20.0.0.1
and then install "workflow.2102.delta.repository" from fix central.

    Hi Nitin,

Unfortunately yes. I have also installed BAW on windows recently and faced this.
For 21.0.2, you need WAS fix pack 19 which needs proper service agreement otherwise fix central won't allow you to download those fix packs.

Why we need WAS FP19 which is part of 8.5.5? How about 9.0.5?

    Hi Nitin,

    re: "How about 9.0.5?"

WAS 9.x is not supported by BAW. There are dependencies on WAS features in BAW advanced, which were discontinued in V9.

    Hi @Jens Engelke

Any idea what type of support agreement is required for WAS fix pack 19 download ?

    Hi Atanu,

as far as I know, all BAW customers are entitled to get WAS fixpacks.
After all, I regularly publish security bulletins advising BAW customers to install WAS (and Java) ifixes, fix packs etc.

We are at 8.5.5.20 right now, available at: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6473497

I think, an IBM ID linked to a customer number that has BAW entitlements, you should be able to download 3 parts from https://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=ibm%2FWebSphere&product=ibm/WebSphere/WebSphere+Application+Server&release=All&platform=All&function=fixId&fixids=8.5.5-WS-WAS-FP020-part1,8.5.5-WS-WAS-FP020-part2,8.5.5-WS-WAS-FP020-part3&includeSupersedes=0&source=fc

    Hi Jens,

    Thanks for your reply.
I got your point but what about business partners ? If I download BAW from IBM Partnerworld Software Access Catalog, then also I should be able to download the WAS fix packs, isn't it ? I am using my partnerworld id but still not able to download the WAS fix packs.
Any views on that please ?

    Atanu,

You need to download base from Software Access catalog and then WAS FPs from Fix Central. There was some glitch yesterday with IBM Cloud security which was messing up with Fix Central to download WAS FPs. Later in evening I was able to download using my partnerworld id. Please try again.

    Jens,

So we have to live with WAS 8.5.5x for BAW? How long and what's plan moving to latest WAS versions? No customer will prefer to keep 2 different WAS versions in their environments.

Product plans are subject to change - sometimes quickly. However, from my personal perspective, the "traditional" workflow product will remain on WAS 8.5.5 (which has an extreme lifetime until 2030: https://community.ibm.com/community/user/wasdevops/blogs/michael-thompson/2020/03/24/was-2030-faq)

In parallel, IBM is betting on containers with workflow in https://www.ibm.com/cloud/cloud-pak-for-business-automation
