Introduction to the Digital Transformation Journey
The digital transformation journey follows a sequence of phases to first gather and assess your processes before moving on to transform and digitize your operations. In this series of articles, we will review good practices for using IBM Blueworks Live for each of the phases:

In the Gather phase, the focus is on identifying a sponsor and business goals, building a team of business and technical subject matter experts, and capturing a model of the current business operations and pain points.
During Assess, the current business operations model is validated and analyzed against the business goals and pain points, and potential “what if?” scenarios for improvements are identified, analyzed, and played back.
The Transform & Digitize phase focuses on identifying one or more minimum viable product starting point(s) for business transformation through digitization with the IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation.
Introduction to the IBM Cloud Pak for Automation
IBM Cloud Pak for Automation is a complete and integrated set of automation capabilities to build and run business solutions wherever needed, on any cloud. The Cloud Pak for Business Automation is a platform that includes the Digital Business Automation portfolio, combining top analyst rated software across the different automation dimensions. Focused on business operations, the portfolio and platform allow companies to digitize and automate work while applying artificial intelligence to continuously improve and augment the workforce for scalability and productivity with digital workers. This software is enterprise-grade and flexible to meet simple and complex automation needs to offer quicker time to market, improved efficiency, higher return on investment (ROI), lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and competitive advantages.
Blueworks Live is the modeling component of Cloud Pak for Business Automation; it is often the entry point for business transformation and automation. Blueworks Live has a comprehensive set of tools and capabilities to model different automation use cases, from workflow, to tasks and decisions, and much more. It is important to model using Blueworks Live to discover, document and transform the business before automating. Figure 2 below highlights the automation components and capabilities within the Cloud Pak for Business Automation.
