Announcement - Updates to the support lifecycle

By Christine Lemaster posted Fri December 16, 2022 02:59 PM

We are delighted to announce some important changes to the product support policy for IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW). We are keenly aware of the importance of long-term stability for the successful operation of the critical business automation solutions often deployed with BAW. In order to better align our support policies to these needs, we are introducing a new support lifecycle for BAW that features a long-term serviceability release (LTSR) with a longer support period that reduces the need for frequent version upgrades.

Highlights of the new policy include:

  • Long term serviceability releases every two years, each with full support for three years plus an additional one year of extended support

  • Possibility for an additional fifth year of paid extended support for each LTSR

  • Overlaps of 1 year between LTSRs to ease upgrade planning

  • Intermediate, continuous delivery releases between LTSRs, with shorter support periods for users needing immediate access to new features

With this new policy, customers on LTSRs can typically plan version upgrades every 2 - 4 years, rather than the 1 - 2 years previously required.

This policy will become effective beginning with the BAW 21.0.3 release.

IBM has announced that this new support policy will also be adopted for the IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation. Read the announcement here.
