  • 1.  Connecting to kafka using certificates

    Posted Mon July 25, 2022 10:30 AM
    Hi Guys,

We are currently using Maximo 7.6.1.2,
today there is a requirement from one of our clients to connect Maximo to a kafka bus using the standard "Kafka" cron job.

Is there a way make the connection work with a certificate instead of user/password authentication?

    Appreciate the responses!!!

    Regards,
    Lea

    Hi,

I saw in the "What's New in 7.6.1.3" documentation (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/mam/7.6.1.x?topic=7613-whats-new-in) that there are "enhanced Kafka handler endpoints that are used to access more authentication schemes".
But I didn't find any details about these new authentication schemes.

Does anyone know if it is possible to authenticate to Kafka with certificates in 7.6.1.3?

    Thanks for your enlightenment.

Maximo 7613 supports kerberos authentication using keytab principle and keytab file.
You will need a kerberos services used by Kafka.

Please note, I have not implemented this kind of authentication thus cannot say how it will work.
