    Summary

According to EMA, 31% of all IT service problems are reactive. End users report critical incidents to IT before NetOps is even aware. With IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps v3.4 release, we are enabling users to predict incidents before they occur. Leveraging advanced AIOPs technology, users can collaborate with NetOps teams by leveraging IBM SevOne NPM performance data alerts through our latest Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps v3.4 integration. In this webinar, you'll learn how to utilize Watson AIOps to analyze event data from SevOne NPM for the improved context of incidents, deduplication, and temporal correlation for probable cause analysis.

    Thanks Jason,
    I have two questions Please:
1- IBM ITNM, Does Sevone is going to replace ITNM or both products will work together?
2- Can SevOne cover network fault monitoring, network topology discovery and root cause analysis based on the discovered topology?

Hi Mohamed, I'm re-posting excerpt of an internal post on similar topic. Here it is - "I wouldn't complicate things with the current stack, ITNM is/should be leveraged as Network Availability Monitoring/Fault Mgmt tool along with Event Correlation(RCA) capability based on discovered topology, where SevOne is Performance Metric tool where you could collect ton of KPIs and can report anomaly detection (both manually defined & auto generated). SevOne doesn't cover in-depth topology visualization as ITNM, no RCA and it only does bare-bone inventory discovery, but it has great coverage on many other capabilities. In my view they aren't apple to apple comparison, one has to look closely client requirements before proposing one over other and I do agree there is some overlap of traditional network monitoring - rest isn't same."

In short, AFAIK, I don't see one replacing other, instead they complement each other as a complete solution. I'm happy to loop you with Offering Manager(s) of ITNM/CP4WAIOps/SevOne teams if you would like to see any future roadmap.

    Bet Regards,
    Krishna.

    Hi Krishna,

Since ITNM is only available with NOI. I would agree for on-prem NOI that is true. But for NOI Cloud version doesn't ASM already contain an addon Network discovery service which will produce visualization as well do advanced correlation and not just with Network events, but other events happen to correlate as well?

So basically, the extra advantage offered by ITNM in NOI is already present if we have SevOne and NOI Cloud?

    Best Regards,
    Y Shomase

    Hi Yassir,

Apologies for the slow response here - I've posted initial blog to avoid confusion with all the components we've and I know it's at very high-level but should provide gist of what I said in earlier response - https://community.ibm.com/community/user/aiops/blogs/krishna-kodali/2022/12/13/aiops-network-extensions

Unless you provide all the use-cases you are trying to fulfill – it's difficult to answer your question. Again, I might be sounding like repetition, but here you go - ITNM has great coverage for visualization of the topology and most importantly able to do Root-Cause-Analysis based on discovered topology data. Whereas SevOne is Performance metric component with additional capabilities mainly around SDN, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi. I do agree, there is bit of overlap in both discovery & monitoring, resting isn't same.

Happy to have a call if you've follow-up questions.

    Best Regards,

    Krishna.
