    Hi IBM Team.

    I've been an IBM user for the past 10 years and I found the current message regarding Instana z/OS and OMEGAMON XP.

    Can someone help me understand whether Instana z/OS provides all the current OMEGAMON monitoring capabilities for z/OS?

    Also can IBM confirm whether OMEGAMON is being push towards EOS/EOM in favor of Instana z/OS?

    Hi Juan - 

    I am an IBM Z product manager supporting the new Instana on z/OS offering. We have NO plans to EOS/EOM any of the OMEGAMONs in favor of Instana on z/OS. We recognize that OMEGAMON and Instana users are typically quite different with seperate roles and responsibilities so we would not want to make either conform to the other's tooling. 

    We have heard from customers, typically folks who are responsible for overall business applications that use tools like Instana, that they would benefit from better insight into what is happening on the mainframe. We are exploring future integrations between OMEGAMON and Instana on z/OS.

    We are currently in the research phase of this work, and we would love to have your input on this. I assume since you are an OMEGAMON user that you are more Z-focused.
    • Would you find it interesting to see your Z resources in the context of the overall business applications they are supporting? 
    • Do you think the rest of your organization would benefit from having some insight into the metrics collected by OMEGAMON in context of their critical business applications? Given how much data OMEGAMON collects, we would only be surfacing a few of the most important metrics that are already being collected. 

    If you're interested, I'd be happy to schedule some time to talk with you about our plans for integrating OMEGAMON and Instana.
